Everyday we are faced with choices. We can choose whatever we want. The way we react, what we say, what we do, how we feel. Yet most of us let our environment make our choice for us. And then we are upset or disappointed wanting to place the blame on others. Even when we do not react to a situation the way we would like, we find a way to justify it, point the finger at someone else.
I am never surprised when I mess up. It seems to be my thing. I am late, I forget, I miss something, I am emotional, I talk to much, stay too quiet…you get the picture. What is actually surprising to me after all this time, I still find a way to put the blame anywhere but right here. It is easy to have an excuse. That way we can continue to make the same mistakes because if it’s not our fault, we can not possibly fix it.
After a series of wrong choices yesterday and spending the evening boohooing and blaming, I saw this as an opportunity to own my “choices”. We have the choice to react however we want. We have the choice to not let outside factors determine that choice.
